Our proud heritage stretches back 86 years. We’re a hybrid of two successful New Zealand businesses; T.R. Booker menswear, which opened in 1923, and W.E Spalding, founded by William Spencer in 1952.
Spencer’s business began by importing quality fabrics from the Midlands of the United Kingdom. After some years, the focus of W.E. Spalding evolved into design and manufacture of women’s day wear and coats, and later into women’s fashion.
In 1982, Spalding and Booker teamed up to focus on corporate wear and provide a one stop shop for a growing customer base. That’s when we became known as Booker~Spalding.
Our roots are key to our success, and today, William Spencer’s grandchildren are actively involved at a senior level in the business.
